I hope this is posted in the right spot. I've been having issues with my Internet connectivity, I have no clue where to start or what's going on. I'm connected to WiFi and it shows I have Internet and connectivity, then randomly sometimes I'll try loading websites and it'll say can't load website or not connected, etc. Every time this issue occurs it shows strong signal and that I still have Internet and am connected. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hi,
when the issue occurs, are you able to re-load or refresh the webpage from loading, in your browser?

What can do it is a new router close to you on the same channel blocking the signal you could try changing channel or use software to see if something is close on same channel

802.11G, N or AC?

If G or N if not using 5 GHz, try channels 1, 6 or 11. Those are none overlapping channels.

What kind of router or modem are you using? Make and model. Is its firmware updated?

If it's possible to run ethernet cable I'd do that. WIFI can be flaky. Sometimes I think it's a chipset issue with certain routers. If WIFI is absolutely needed, try a Panda wireless WIFI USB adapter.

It's N, how do I try different channels? I have no access to the router to physically see it unfortunately. I know we have Verizon Fios, not sure if there's a way for me to go online to check that but have no idea if the firmware is updated or not. I know that when connecting my phone to Wi-Fi I see a 5G is that what you're referring to? I don't see that on my PC though for some reason as an option to connect to it.

Panda wireless WiFi USB adapter should make WIFI more stable?

No, 5G, 4G, LTE (Long Term Evolution) are not WIFI protocols. Those are protocols from the cell tower for Internet from the cell tower. Not Internet from your WIFI at home with your router or modem or at at a coffee shop, etc.

Depends on what kind of issue you have here. There could be a whole host of issues as to why you have bad WIFI Internet access.

For the heck of it, I want to see if you have a double NAT situation going on.

Go to the start orb and in the search box enter cmd.

Now in the command prompt enter the following:

Code:
tracert 8.8.8.8
Now right click the top of the command box and select Select all and right click copy. Paste the results here.

Also, 802.11n could be 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. If it's 2.4 GHz you'll want to use channels 1, 6, or 11. If it's 5 GHz I doubt it's a channel interference issue, but changing the channel wouldn't hurt.

You're gonna need to tell me if you have a modem and just a modem or if there's a modem and router connected and I need make and models.

I believe it's just a router and it's a FIOS Quantum FiOS-G1100 (this is the model). How do I tell if it's 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz?

Thee was only two hops in the trace route like that? There should have been at least seven. But if that's right then you don't have a double NAT situation, especially since you indicate you only use a Quantum modem.

To see what frequency you are using, try WifiInfoView and look at your SSID (your network name) and the frequency. https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/wifi_information_view.html

You may be able to access your modem and configure things, but you'll want to use a network cable and not over WIFI. I think this is your modem manual. https://www.verizon.com/supportreso...rt/consumer/documents/fqgrouter-userguide.pdf

If you're using 2.4 GHz, use channels 1, 6 or 11.

Tell me if this occurs in Firefox portable. Mozilla Firefox, Portable (browser) | PortableApps.com

Nope, I just see loading and the circle keeps spinning and spinning.

Should I also try updating my wireless network driver? I noticed that I have a SUPER old driver version.

Yes.

I wanted you to try a fresh Firefox install in portable format to see if the problem is still there. If so it could be an issue with your browser.

I gave you a PDF on how to access your router. In there you can change the channel. Try 1 or 6. In that WIFI program you should be able to see who else is on those channels. Less means more in this case.

I don't think I mentioned this but I'm currently using Chrome. Should I still install that Firefox and see if it occurs with that? Also with that WIFI program where does it say who else is on the channel, is that under the stations count?

I'll take a look at the PDF you sent to me but unfortunately the chances of me being able to log in to the router are very slim. I live in an apartment and don't have access to or know any details about the router, but I'll certainly go in and try and take a look.

Oh, I see. Yeah, if you have no control over the router do to it being in apartment, then you can't change the channel.

Try clearing cache and cookies once. How to Clear Cache and Cookies in Chrome

There's no install in portable Firefox. It just runs from the folder. There's Chrome portable as well.

In the screenshot from here you'll see the column of channels and the SSIDs which are the network names. So if you see a lot of people using channel 11 then that could pose an issue.

Update your WIFI driver and clear cache and cookies.

Got it! Best way to update WIFI driver? GO under device manager and update from there is fine?

Now that I think about it, how do I even tell if my driver is up to date or out dated, etc.?

Well, you said yourself it was a, "super old driver version." How did you ascertain that?

What is the make and model of your WIFI network adapter in the computer? If you don't know, run this program and to the right drop down the network tree: HWiNFO - Free System Information, Monitoring and Diagnostics

Don't click the driver update button in this program. My uBlock Origin flagged it as, "Badware risks." A lot of those so-called "driver update" websites are garbage and have the possibility of hosing over your computer. I'm sure they (the Devs of this program) were paid to add that button fallacy.
Drivers should ALWAYS be downloaded from their respective manufacture's if at all possible, and if not, scan it at Virus Total. Be warned.

Yes, Device Manager can be used, but that's for an .INF (Information File Name Extension) file. Typically, you'd just run an executable you double click on. That's it.
