Spybot, Ad-aware, etc. in addition to Defender?

Using Windows 7 Premium, 64 bit.
I have Windows defender running and updating regularly. I also have Avast free running.
Do I need to occasionally run Spybot and/or Ad-aware in addition (as I did in XP) or are they redundant if Defender is running?
Thank you.

I would run SAS at least once a week. It covers more ground than the above mentioned two. I have set it into the delayed startups and run it every morning after boot. In the background it does not bother me when running. As a Spybot replacement for active supervision I suggest WinPatrol. It has more additional useful functions (e.g. Startup program management).

Just so I understand correctly, are you saying use SAS instead of which 2?
How do you set SAS for delayed startup? Is that one of its built-in options?
Spybot's active supervision (tea timer) used to give me problems and I therefore do not have it enabled in W7.
WinPatrol is for spyware or for viruses?

This is pretty handy too:
SpywareBlaster | Prevent spyware and malware. Free download. (free).

I know that some folk here periodically run Malwarebytes to clear out any potential nasties.

Myself. I did used to have Spybot installed on my XP laptop; on my Windows 7 laptop I chose not to - merely Avast and Defender .

SAS in lieu of AdAware. WinPatrol in lieu of Spybot. It has a similar function as the Teatimer, but is a little smoother and less bothersome. It alerts you if a program wants to make modifications to your system.
PS: I found SAS to be more efficient than MalwareBytes. It found things on my system where MalwareBytes had no clue.

I recommend using the free versions of a-squared or Malwarebytes along with Hitman Pro. (All are on-demand scanners.)

Edit: Run them instead of Spybot and Ad-Aware.
