Hey so I just fresh installed win 7 on a 120gb ssd and I want to store things on my HDD but open them while using my ssd. So basically I can put some games on my ssd but not all games will fit at least I assume so I want some space on the ssd. Is there anyway to install on the HDD but be able to open in the ssd?

Where you install something has no effect on whether you can use not or not. So if you SSD is C: and you install games on D: then yes, you can use them while booted from C:

It sounds like you want to install items on your hard drive, but have them accessed by the SSD. Well, your programs have to be installed on the SSD to take advantage of the the SSD's faster load times.

Many game programs install a game folder called "My Games" into the "My Documents" folder.
For applicable games, you can install the games onto the SSD, begin game play, save your settings, and exit the game.
This should create a My Games folder on the SSD.
You can then delete the contents for the applicable game in the My Games folder on the SSD and replace it with the exact contents from the HDD.
Provided you did this correctly, you should be able to resume the game from the point that was saved to the HDD.

The AV program you have to install on your SSD system.

Not sure what you did with bigmck's link. But you cannot just move or link programs that are already installed. You have to reinstall those games and during the installation you have to point them to a predefined folder on your HDD. Just call this folder Games Library and define it in any partition on the HDD before you make the first games installation.

I recommend to install as many programs as possible on the SSD (better performance). But leave appr. 15% of the SSD free at all times (for garbage collection). On the HDD I would install those games that are not performance critical. Normal programs are usually small and should be on the SSD. And ALL system files should remain on the SSD too.

On the SSD you can gain some space if you get rid of the hiberfile (provided you do not use hibernation). The command is:

powercfg -h off

You can also reduce the pagefile to 2 GBs if you have 4GB or more RAM. With e.g. a system that has 8GBs of RAM, those two operations save you 14GBs on the SSD.

You can install anything you want on your hard drive, just change the drive letter in the path to the letter of the hard drive

For example your ssd is C your hard drive is D, so just change C to D when you install programs, games or what not.

As everyone has stated, keep the programs on the ssd, put games, documents, pictures, movies, etc on the hard drive.

Your gonna have to re install your games.
