Hi,

I was wondering if you can safely disable the SSDP Discovery service in Windows 7?

Because I don't use UPnP and I have it disabled in my router.
I also have turned off the Network Discovery plus I disabled the Homegroup services on my computer, since I don't need that my PC is looking for other devices on the network, nor I don't want too.
I also have the windows media network sharing service disabled.

Thanks!

Tom

UPnP in itself has serious security issues, letting anything to control your devices if enabled. It should be always disabled, unless you have a very specific reason to take the security hit.

Having this service enabled by default in Windows is just one of the many security vulnerabilities that the OS brings. Go ahead and disable the service right away, as it's in fact unsafe to keep enabled.

Okay, I will disable the SSDP Discovery service then.
If someone thinks otherwise, please don't hesitate to say so.

Thanks!
