Hi GUys, need your help!
well my friend has a Thompson speedtouch modem ST585, which is basically more than just a moden it's also a Router, has 4 port ethernet as a well as Wireless. but he also has a Linksys WRT150N which is sitting idle, and wants to make use of it. currenlty all PCs latops in his home are connected with the Speedtouch ST585, which is providing Internet connection sharing.
He would like everything to be connected to the WRT150N, and then from the WRT150N WAN Port ethernet to the ST585, I tried configuring a PPPoe connection via the WRT150N admin menu, put in the user/password for the ADSL connection but it doesn't work. I think I might have to configure one of ST585 ethernet ports to connect to the WRT150N, but not sure how to do that. I did a lot of searching for info on the net, and it seems I can use the ST585 wizard to configure bridging to do that, so I started the wizard in the speedtouch administration, but durring the procedure I am asked for the VPC / VCC settings which which I am not sure about, I am worried that I may put in the wrong VPC / VCC which will render the internet connection unusable, also I cannot obtain the correct VPC / VCC settings frorm the ISP now as it's weekend, I have to wait at least 48 hours. so wondering is there a way to find out the current VPC / VCC settings that are on the ST585 now? this is so that I can save the settings in case I need to re-confugure it to the way it was before.
Has anyone here connected the ST585 to another router like what I'm trying to do such as the WRT150N or WRT300N or WRT54G or others? how did you configure the ST585 with the WRT ( the PPPoe connection )?
my own setup at home is a lot simpler, I have the Speedtouch 510 v6, which is just a simple modem, and has 1 ethernet port to be connected to my WRT54GC router, by default it is configured to work with a router.. so I am not sure how to deal with the ST585, how to make it work with another router...
any help or suggestions where to find information is appretiated! thanks
