I'm trying to play Stardew Valley on my HP Pavilion dv6 and I keep getting a "No suitable graphics card found" error. My husband is usually very knowledgeable about gaming and troubleshooting problems that come along with PC gaming but he is even having trouble figuring out how to fix this. I've scoured the internet for hours now looking for different things to try but have had no luck, which brings me to writing this. Any tips on how to resolve this issue. I will say that I'm not a very "techy" person so please bare with me here :)

Unless there is a way to change this, I found my Laptop is only capable of running DirectX version 9 whereas the minimum requirement for playing Stardew Valley is DirectX version 10 *shrug*

Hi

possibly way out here:zip:
Unless your lappy was made prior to >> Vista's release << v10 should be available to you.
(would be handy to know the exact graphics card)

As a matter of course ensure that the drivers for the following are upto date
(if any are available update in the following order)
Bios
Chipset
Graphics card (check any disclaimers on HP website for your model)
Sound card

and Windows Updates
This includes Netframework.

By the looks of it, you have found the answer regarding DX9 vs DX10 but if you still need more help, perhaps this website can help.
Can You RUN It | Can I run that game | Game system requirements

Rule of thumb... for the most part, unless you are talking about a very high end Laptop, the onboard graphics card are not good for gaming but normal youtube browsing videos and small online games... your miles may vary of course.
