My Start Menu......Once was populated but now is vacant. I'm not aware of any action of mine that has caused the original list to disappear. Items can still be added to the menu if I choose to do so.

Any ideas on why this may have occurred?

Hi and welcome

It is a known problem when start gets more than abt 80 items. I have it now. there are 2 fixes. first have less than that number of items. second there is a thread here that has the cure. I forget its name and fix. Just search for it. Me I just deal with it too much trouble.

Thank you.

It's easy enough to repopulate the menu with what you need of course but knowing why it cleared itself is good to know. I'll have a search for the thread you mentioned.

Ok, I have to ask you.......what Privacy setting are you referring to?

Don't worry, I've found them. Hasn't made any difference however.

I think we are talking at cross purposes here. I have an empty Start Menu and the tip above is to fix an empty Program List. :)

Right click on an empty area of the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, then click Properties/Start Menu/Customize.

Sorry, I misread your original post. I thought you were having problems restoring the Start menu items.
Did you check for viruses and spyware by updating your AV and AS programs, and then running scans?

It is the Start Menu I am having trouble with, not the All programs list.

Yes I've updated AV and Spybot with no change to the problem.

I'll try the MSCONFIG option that was suggested, thanks.

If anyone else has access to your Administrator account, then they may have caused the problem.
