Starting task on sleep - but computer doesn't wait

I've set up a sync task that I want to run when the computer sleeps. I have set it up okay in task scheduler, but when I sleep, the computer doesn't wait for it to finish, it just goes to sleep. Then when I wake up, the task finishes.

How do I get it to wait until the task is finished and THEN sleep?

I don't know of a way to do that Darkfalz other than the obvious perhaps, which is to simply walk-away from your PC, having set the task to "wait for idle", and having also set your Power Options to be so long that the task is assured to complete every time (after starting on its own).

Maybe if you tell what specifically you are trying to accomplish when you "shut down" a better suggestion can be made.

I have a batch file that syncs game saves to a network drive. Obviously I want to do it when I put the computer to sleep so that they are ready to retrieve from another PC when I try, rather than having to wake and sync the previous PC first.
