Steps to secure ad-hoc network?

Hi,

I'd like to use a usb wireless network adapter (Asus) to connect my pc with a wireless printer. A wireless router would be overkill, I believe.

SSID and WPA-2 can be set in the Windows security panel. Do I need to take care of other things such as Mac filtering, SSID broadcast, etc. to prevent that other people could access my pc, and if so, how? The vast majority of the help I find applies to infrastructure networks.

You will need to manually assign (static) IP addresses to the wifi adapters. You will also want to turn off file sharing.

I assume you do mean file sharing, not the option to share the internet connection with other network users - that's what I see in the advanced settings for manual IP. Will this suffice to block access from other wireless stations to my pc?
