Hi,
This is my first time here.
I've just clean installed Win 7 and am now reinstalling programs, restoring saves, etc.
I found your thread about Saving / Restoring Sticky Notes content.
Unfortunately, I did not think to look for this before I clean installed.
So I have no "Save" to restore from.

I do have the Windows.old file.
Is it possible to recover my old notes from Windows.old?
If so, can you tell me what the path is to the Sticky Notes save file?

The only other option I can think of is to restore an old image, backup the notes, then restore my most recent image (yesterday-post clean install) and restore the notes as described in the above mentioned thread.

Hi Joe, welcome to the Seven Forums.

Sticky Notes are saved in a file called StickyNotes.snt, located in C:\Users\Your_Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Sticky Notes folder.

Replace said file with the one in same location in your Windows.old folder and reboot, it should bring back your notes.

Notice that AppData is a hidden system folder, you need to enable showing hidden files and folders in order to see it in Explorer.

Problem solved.

This was the first time I bothered to create and save windows.old during a re-install.
Now I'm glad I did.
