Hi,
since some weeks I'm experiencing a BSOD once in a while. I did something about MS Icon Changer since that was part of an error message and all was ok for the moment. Today I can barely boot into Windows.

I hope someone can give some indication to what's the cause out of the latest BSOD Error code:

Code:
STOP: 0x000000F4 (0x0000000000000003, 0xFFFFFA800D6096D0, 0xFFFFFA800D6099B0, 0xFFFFF80003BCE780)
Code:
STOP: 0x000000F4 (0x0000000000000003, 0xFFFFFA800D6144E0, 0xFFFFFA800D6147C0, 0xFFFFF80003BCD780)
Unfortunately, since the problem ocurred, no crash dumps are being written. :(
PLZ help.

Edit: Happened again after running in safe mode + network drivers, so I guess it's safe to say it's not the graphics driver, at least.
Code:
STOP: 0x000000F4 (0x0000000000000003, 0xFFFFFA800CD6150D0, 0xFFFFFA800D618B0, 0xFFFFF80002FD5780)
Pattern: they all start with
Code:
STOP: 0x000000F4 (0x0000000000000003, 0xFFFFFA800CD6...
and end with
Code:
0xFFFFF8000____780
I also read something about "BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO"

Memtest is running until tomorrow...

Memtest ran 10,5 hours with 6 complete cycles - no errors.
I have a SSD for system and a HDD for data with pagefile.sys on the HDD.
Today I unplugged the HDD and was able to boot into Windows with no BSOD. I then set pagefile.sys to the system SSD and connected the HDD again. Still no BSOD.

CHKDSK found no errors on both drives.
Currently I'm running ES tool (Samsung HDD diagnostic) on the HDD, so far all tests passed, the read surface scan still continues. I believe it will be ok.

When that is finished I'll try to force a BSOD again and hopefully then I'll be able to grab the minidump so I can post it here.

Any other advise?
Many thanks

Run SeaTools to check the integrity of your HDD. SeaTools for DOS and Windows - How to Use - Windows 7 Help Forums
Run following tests
  1. Short Drive Self Test
  2. Short generic
  3. Long generic
If the short generic fails, no need for the long generic.

   Note
Do not run SeaTools on an SSD as the results will be invalid.

Run HDTune to
  • scan for errors, no quick scan but full scan
  • check the health,
  • benchmark.
It may take some time, but please take the time you need to perform it properly.
Let me know what the results are
  • of the error scan,
  • make a screenshot of the health of every hard drive and post the screenshots,
  • post screenshots with the benchmark of the
    • transfer rate,
    • access time,
    • burst rate,
    • cpu usage.

HDTune is now running, but I guess that's just cosmetics in the result.

Now that I'm running this PC with same HW setup as before, only difference being that pagefile.sys now resides in C: instead of D: without any BSODs for several hours I come to the conclusion that swapfile was repeatedly affected by 1 bad sector (according to ES tool)... How likely is that?
Would you still trust this HDD anymore, after erase/repair procedure?
And which tool to use for erase/repair, ES tool or SeaTool?
Thanks!

It doesn't happen often.

A bad sector can't be repaired, what happens basically is that this bad sector is being marked as bad so the system won't use it anymore.
Depending on how many bad sectors your hard drive can handle you can still use it but you have to keep an eye on it. Sometimes a hard drive will fail after a single bad sector, others can handle a lot more.

And which tool to use for erase/repair, ES tool or SeaTool?
Depends on what hard drive you have.
SeaTools can test all hard drives, but repair only Seagate hard drives.
