Strange daily 'alarm' noise from PC

Windows 7 x64 fully updated (but obviously not up to Win 10!)

I'm at a total loss (never hard!) as to what's perpetrating this problem. Over the past week or so, my PC is making the noise attached regularly at the same time each day for 30 secs. To my knowledge I've not set up any alarms on schedule with any program etc and have checked all running processes etc during it but nothing's standing out as an obvious culprit. Strangely it's not affected by muting the PC sound - it just keeps on going!

Typical programs running at the time are:
Firefox
Outlook 2010
Itunes
Picasa3
BitDefender

Thanks in advance :)

Anyone any suggestions as to what to check out perhaps.

hi

is the sound coming from your speakers or from the case itself?

Appreciate the suggestion, but unsure why a RAM issue would cause a 30-sec "alarm" at exactly 22:37 each night? It's definitely the strangest thing I've had happen to my self-built machine in its 3 years since replacing the MB. But yes, the RAM was changed recently (about 3 wks prior to the noise) so certainly a possibility perhaps. Will check it out tomorrow all being well & see if any difference. Thanks

All I can suggest is checking scheduled tasks to see if anything is set to run at that time.

You can grab yourself a copy of portable TaskSchedulerView

Download links are at the bottom of the page and you need "Download TaskSchedulerView (32-bit)" for your system.

Extract the files into a folder somewhere and run the executable. Check the "Last Run" and "Next Run" columns to see if anything runs at that exact time.

Thanks so much for that Callender - thought you might have cracked it but no - sadly nothing shows up at all in the list for 22:37 daily. Plus I figure perhaps it's not a Windows issue in the sense that the sound is coming from the MB or case or something that direction.

Are there alarms in the BIOS or the like - anything like that for the CMOS battery? The MB is a Gigabyte one but it's only a year old so unlikely I suppose, but things can fail. Just thinking out loud, but please fire me any other thoughts on it, as it's really becoming quite annoying because you can't turn it down/off so it interrupts everything. :(

Do you have anything in msconfig/startup or services that do auto updates or check for updates. I personally don't allow any auto updates of anything and that includes uploading anything into a Cloud.

So I've reseated the RAM, and checked other possible programs for auto-updates but nothing outside of Windows own plus the likes of BitDefender and Dropbox. I can't even find anything unusual running in Services or PRograms at the time of the event, which makes it all the more odd. I've also gone through all the Logs I can find but again nothing shows up for any reason at that exact time, so again feel it has to be hardware more than software.

I might go & investigate this RAM further as it's a new set I was testing for Amazon but think they're fairly solid (KLEVV Fit 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3) but given they're the most recent and only hardware change for a fair while, it may just be that they've something to do with it.

Hopefully so - it had me worried initially as I'd heard stories of scammers etc being able to make your PC do strange things :(

Thanks anyway
