Does something seem odd with this file structure?

There's a ton of files listed in the top level directory that I would normally think should be down in the Windows level.

The view here is with hidden files and folders OFF.

I recently had an infection located in this same folder with a similar type of file name ( .sys )

Inside each of these folders, there's another folder with a long Alpha numeric name. In that folder is an application that matches the name of the first folder.

I've never seen this before.

Malewarebytes doesn't detect anything.

Well, In the time that I created the post and now, I took a deeper look.

All of the .sys files that were up on the top level were also down in the System32 folder where they belong.

Checking the dates when the files were created pointed me back to this monday.

I was having a BSOD problem and downloaded the Windbg symbols. I remember placing them on the C: drive but I thought I had put them down a level.

Because they were already present down in the System32 folder, I took a chance, created a restore point and deleted everything that was out of place.

I've restarted with no issues and running smooth. Go figure. ;)
