Occasionally I get stuck on the asus bios splash screen, and on other times I can get stuck on the windows screen(on win 7 where the 4 different colours come together as the windows icon). Can anyone help me?

Matlet, without you filling out your system spec, it is difficult to give you much of an answer.
like what peripherals are you connecting? video and such. Many things could be the source of your system
not going beyond the bios flash screen.

I have dos 6.22, wfwg 3.11, win98, 2000 and xp VHD's available for testing. MS's Virtual PC works great.
You could try running a sfc/scannow to see if it'll fix any minor glitches causing this. I agree with richnrockville, a little more specs and data would help alot.

Matlet, you might want to try to no overclock the cpu and see if that matters. That could be your problem.

Hi Rich, the oc'd indeed meant overclocked, but it was my graphics card that was overclocked, not my cpu. The HD 7870 is a radeon graphics card by amd. My cpu is an intel 5, and it cannot be overclocked with my current motherboard. My apologies if I seemed rude as well.

What else could it mean?

He's left the building anyway.
It was indeed an overclock, but it was on my graphics card, not my cpu. It is not possible to overclock my cpu with my current motherboard.
Also, I didn't go anywhere :)

It could well be that your graphics card is overclocked too much, and is halting the boot process somewhere along the line. To eliminate this possibility, remove the card and connect to your motherboard's on-board graphics temporarily. Reboot, and let us know if that makes any difference.

I can't imagine my grahpics card overclock having anything at all to do with the computer booting properly. More like something with the motherboard or other simple settings. My graphics card was giving me blue screens because of a too heavy overclock some time ago, but I've reduced it and its running just fine now.

Overclocking any component can cause this issue, so I would put everything back to "default" value in BIOS and simplify the troubleshooting...
