Solved Stuck on Windows Update again

Nope, disabling Windows Update did not achieve anything and the fan is away burling like a 747 taking off in the distance again.

So I click on the Windows 10 thing again... "sorry the free offer has expired!". OK, well why is it still offering me Windows10!

Do I need to evacuate my living room every Tuesday evening/Wedniesday morning from now on and go into the back room and just use my tablet while Windows updates?

Is there another way to update windows every Tuesday without using Windows update because I AM JUST UTTERLY FED UP WITH THE PROBLEM EVERYTIME!!!! This NOISE is DRIVING ME CRAZY!"!!!!¬

Is this really what we need to do to fix this problem?

I gave up on Step 1. How can I find all those codes in a list that's a long as a giraffes neck without the use of a search algorithm?

This whole situation is a joke. Microsoft are dead. I'm switching back to Mac again at the first opportunity.

Hi,
Micro... has been playing cat and mouse with these updates availability
But this has worked for many if the download links work that is you might have to use the catalog and internet explorer to get them if they don't already exist.
When manually installing updates you need to switch your update settings to Never check for updates and restart the machine first.

Make sure KB3020369 is installed
Win-7 32 bit
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=46827
Win-7 64 bit
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=46817

Then manually install KB3172605
Win-7 32 bit,
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=53335
Win-7 64 bit,
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=53332

After switch your windows update settings back to what you had prior and manually check for updates and the rest should show up shortly.

Will do. I have a recent windows image on disk, I assume you are kind of joking there. I always create a restore point before I do stuff like this anyway. I'll mark this thread as solved now and hopefully I wont have anoy more issues like this.

Problem is I need to clear all the work off my hard drive before I do that, and it can accumulate...

It's all backed up on externals though, my most recent disk image is two months old.

Hi,
Even though your system is not perfect at this point I'd still create a system image before loading these updates
You can always delete the image after and replace it with a new if the system operates properly after installing them.

It never fails every time I don't make a system image the installation of updates stalls or.... :mad2:
So now I do it automatically :D

Too late for that. But everything seems to be working fine so I'll create a new one in a few days. Cheers for the help.
