Stuck with install

Hello friends, I've been running Windows 7 pro & decided to upgrade to Windows7 Ultimate. I've put the install disk in & when it gets to the part where I have to choose where its installed to, the box is empty. I think it might be a problem with the motherboard driver & have downloaded the driver ( I think ) but cant figure out how to install it. Has anyone else had this problem & if so do you know what I should do. I am not to clever with PCs so if there is a solution could you please tell me in an easy to understand way please.

What makes you think that is true?

Is this Windows 7 Ultimate Disc something you burned? Bought online? Bought in a retail store? Borrowed?

Hi, Im not sure that it is the motherboard driver im just clutching at straws to be honest. All I know is that when I come to install it the partition box is empty. I bought the disk at the local PC shop some months ago & decided to do it today, wish I had left it alone now !

Is your original Win 7 Pro installation intact and working OK?

Can you post a screen shot of the final step you can get to in the installation process, showing that checkbox?

Did you get a 25 character Product Key with the Ultimate disc and is it valid, according to Microsoft?

Hi Thankyou for your help but I've decided to take it to the local PC shop who sold me the disk & let them sort it, its all totally beyond me I should have let sort it in the first place.
