Sudden Wi-Fi instability

Hey everybody!

Okay, so I got a new computer recently and it worked great on my campus' Wi-Fi network for about a week. Then all of a sudden the stability of my connection dropped down to nothing. For the past several days, I have barely been able to get on the Internet at all and my Wi-Fi signal can never make it above two bars. My roommates' computers and my own MacBook and iOS devices have no problems at all.

This problem has been driving me crazy because the primary purpose of this new computer is multiplayer gaming, which of course is the one thing it CAN'T do is play online games. Can anyone think of any client-side reason why the Wi-Fi on a brand new computer would just spontaneously combust, or is this just something I need to talk about with the network administration on my campus?

Philip

P.S. The one and only thing I don't like about college is the lack of time for personal hobbies, like volunteering on this site. Maybe I'll be able to hang around again during the summer.

It really does sound like something's changed on the campus Wi-Fi given its been working fine for a week, or you just need to tweak some settings on the new machine - suggest you ask their network administrator to eliminate this before suspecting you have an actual problem with your laptop...
