Suddenly can't detect Wireless Networks

I had problems connecting to my WiFi Network these past few days. From time to time, my laptop can't detect my home wireless network at all even though other devices can detect and connect it as easily. I usually had to restart my modem and laptop or simply wait for it to pick up the WiFi connection.

Today, when the WiFi connection was shown as limited on my laptop when all other devices had a normal connection, I tried disabling then enabling again the Wireless Network Connection(?) on the Network Connections window in the Control Panel. I disabled it. But, when I tried enabling it again, the icon didn't show any change; and when I refreshed, the wireless network connection icon disappeared altogether.

I tried setting-up a new connection in hopes of locating the Wireless Network but the option of manually connecting to a wireless connection itself was gone (or anything relating to it really).

With a bit of info from googling, I checked Network Adapters on the Device Manager panel and the Wireless Adapter wasn't there (even after opting to Show Hidden Devices).

So, should I assume that this is a hardware problem? Or is there some setting that I should configure?

I'm a complete layman when it comes to computers but I'd honestly like to save money by figuring this out myself so I'm hoping it's only some setting I neglected to check given my lack of knowledge. So, may I get your advice on it?

Thank you for your response!
