Suffling icons on TASK BAR

At times there is a need to have so much going on that some icons are relgated to a SECOND LEVEL task bar.

How can I bring an icon up from lower level task bar to be displayed on top level task bar?

How can i hrink size of icons to get more across the task bar? My screen rez is 1400x900 which i wish to keep.

Right click on Taskbar, select Properties. Check Use small Icons. Apply then OK.

You've already gotten the word about RMB on taskbar, Properties -> use small icons. That certainly will start you in the right direction, obviously getting more icons per row.

But to actually move an item that's been pinned to the taskbar from where it currently is to someplace left or right of there, you only have to left-click-and-hold on that icon and then drag left or right. As you drag there will be a white vertical bar that will appear and the icons left and right of that white vertical bar will spread out (to the left and right, making room for the white vertical bar representing where the dropped icon will go), and when you release the left mouse button the icon will drop onto that opening that's been marked with that white vertical bar.

If your task bar is double-height and has icons on two rows and you want to move icons from one row to the other, you follow the same above instructions but this time you left-click-and-hold to drag the icon up or down into the alternate taskbar row, and still holding the left mouse button down just continue the drag left or right, all the while watching that white vertical bar. When you have the white bar where you want it, release the left mouse button and the icon will now be moved to its new location in the other row.

If you have a single-height taskbar, you can again move an icon from top-to-bottom row or from bottom-to-top row easily. Just first right-click on the taskbar and un-check the "lock the taskbar" (i.e. if it's currently checked indicating "locked", just click on that check to toggle it to an un-checked state). Now move the mouse over the top edge of the single-height taskbar until the cursor turns into an up/down-arrow. Then left-click-and-hold on that top edge and drag the top edge UP until the single-high taskbar becomes double-high. Then release the left mouse button.

Now you can perform the earlier instructions to left-click-and-hold on the icon and drag it from one row to the other and then left or right as you want, and drop it there. Once you have the rearrangement to your satisfaction, if you now want to revert back to single-high taskbar just position the mouse over the top edge of your currently double-high taskbar to again get the cursor to change into the up/down-arrow, then left-click-and-hold and pull the top edge down so that the double-high taskbar becomes single-high. Then release the left mouse button. Now RMB on the taskbar and check the "lock the taskbar" item to once again lock the taskbar as single-high.

That's all there is to it.
