Solved Suggestions for a router...

So here's what I want to do...

I have a comcast cable modem currently connected to my computer via ethernet cable.

I would like to connect my new Panasonic Viera to the internet also with an ethernet cable.

My modem only has one port so I need a router to accomplish this, I'm not very router savvy so I thought I'd get some expert advice.

I was looking at this one D-Link Wireless N 150 Home Router it's only $30 at Fry's.

Any thoughts on that router? Or suggestions for a better one?

If I left out any obvious info, just ask.

D-Link is a good brand. You stated you are going to use the Ethernet connectors. All the manufacturers push their wireless specs but if you are not planning on using the wireless part there is no need to spend more for better wireless. Of course if you change your mind in the future then maybe it would be worth the extra cash. Most routers have built in firewalls. There are two types "SPI and NAT" so look for the routers that have both of these included. I think both of those D-Links have these. The one I like is the Netgear one FRYS.com | NETGEAR
as it has a Lifetime warranty.

If you wire the thing, an ethernet switch would do the job. I have this little Netgear switch for my systems in FL since 2 years. Works perfectly. But if you want to go remote, then you need a router. In Germany I use Netgear for that. Their stuff is reliable.

I'm partial to Linksys and use the Linksys E-4200. It's N with dual band and has 4 gigabit ports.

If you go and search for reviews, the Netgear WNDR3700 version 2 Wireless N N600 Dual Band Gigabit Router WNDR3700v2 is one of the best on the market and has its own 680 Mhz processor. Eventually you will find a use for the wireless side of the router, be it your TV or a laptop, etc. This unit is 'future proof', so you won't have to upgrade again anytime soon. It also is DD-WRT compatible if you decide to further tweak your network. If you look around Ebay or Amazon, you can find the N 300 version 2 for about 60 USD.
