I've done on demand scans with SuperAntispyware for the last 4 years and it never detected any sort of malware other than browser cookies!

Maybe you didn't have any malware to detect to begin with.

That's a possibility, however in some rare instances other scanners did detect malware and SuperA did not. My preferred is Spyware Doctor from PCTools

no antimalware is perfect. my combination before was KIS + SuperAntiSpyware + SpywareBlaster.. Now, KIS + SAS + SB + MBAM.. Works wonders for me..

SAS is not a anti malware. It is a Anti Spyware. If one finds a lot spyware using SAS there anti virus is not doing its job. I use it for a back up scan to check and see if anything has got by anti virus. SAS has only found 2 items on my computer but I had to do a complete scan. Quick scan didn't find it. I would recommend it to all.

They're all anti malware.

"Malware" is an include-all term (mal-malicious/ware-software) for spyware, adware, trojans, backdoors, worms, etc. Most people think malware is just a specific type of malicious code, like a trojan. It's everything malicious. It's odd that even some security program developer/companies still use it as if it was a specific type of infection.

Yes, that's the reason I occasionally do on demand scans with various antimalware: Malwarebytes, SAS, Avira Antivir, Lavasoft, MSE, Spybot Search&Destroy, Spyware Doctor, Sunbelt. The only real time protection enabled I use is NIS2011.
I always wonder what is the global carbon footprint of running all these antimalware scans in the zillions of computers...must be huge!
