Dear People,
I am sorry if this is wrong forum section, I am new here!:D
I am currently getting annoyed by an error and I am struggling to get help. This forum IMO is better than the MSDN and TechNet forums because many people manage to solve their problems here! My computer is not even 1 year old and a few weeks ago (maybe 3) an error saying "The program can't start because api-ms-win-core-heap-l1-2-0.dll is missing from you computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." is popping up. After I click OK, the application starts normally. This only happens with Visual Studio 2012, Visual Studio 2010 Express, Dxtory and MonoDevelop (Unity Version). I have also got Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate Trial on my computer and before this error didn't use to pop up. Yesterday I managed to find something new. When I opened Visual Studio 2012 and created an app with all the frameworks, the only one that gave me the error is .NET Framework 4.5. I think I will have to do a repair install of Windows 7. Please note that: This error did not use to come up before, I tried uninstalling .NET Framework and installing it again, I tried repairing it, I tried repairing Visual Studio 2012 too but that didn't solve the problem. Could the problem be Visual Studio 2010 Express?
Thanks

Thanks for your reply,
The System File Checker came up with,

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Hi there ... Have you had any updates recently? Also do you have any Restore points prior to the issue ?

Thanks again for your reply!
I do not really remember but doing a System Restore can get me in trouble because in 3 weeks I have surely made a lot of things! I still briefly remember that a few weeks before this problem started to appear there was an update. I am not really sure.

No I do not think there is a way to back them up since I do not know what I have done and the all of my Restore Points where created after this error started to pop up. Not to consider myself a professional but this problem did not use to happen even with Visual Studio installed. I will try to remove it when the trial expires. Do you think that doing a repair installation of Windows 7 will help me?

I installed Visual Studio 2012 with Visual Studio 2010 because of XNA Studio and I am pretty sure the trouble is not coming from Visual Studio because if it was them, this problem would have appeared when I installed Visual Studio 2012. Visual Studio 90 day trial means about 12 weeks. I installed Visual Studio 2012, then 4 weeks after this problem started to occur. Sorry if I am not obeying you but many people said that uninstalling these programs will mess your registry!

It seems to be a very rare problem. Thanks very much for trying to help me with it but not to ignore you or say you ain't good, on this forum, is it allowed to PM an MVP like Brink and ask him? I mean, is it impolite or wrong to so? I will try a repair. By the way, I saw the tutorial on repairing Brink posted and it seems to be a great tutorial. What is the difference between a startup repair and a repair install?

A startup Repair is used mostly if you are having problems that are preventing Windows from starting .... Repair Install is explained in the Tutorial ... You would need to do a backup though ... Which you state is not an Option

It should not change any of your programs .... But I always advise before making any changes to your system to do a backup

My drive is split in two partitions. C and D which are both 500GB One of them has installed Windows 7 and the other one is a backup of our old computer. The backup of the old computer is 14.2GB and I haven't got where to place 14.2GB because my old computer's power supply blew up 4 months ago.

Not really a good idea to have backups on a Drive you are using .... As it could fail .... External Drives are much better ... And not so expensive these days

By backup, do you mean backup of the whole computer or backup of just files, precious files like photos, documents and music. And by the way, thanks for replying very fast, it looks like we are chatting here ;)

No worries :) I do regular backups maybe every two days .... But i do use my computer a lot .... I think you should Create a System Image if you have not already done so as-well as regular backups

If I am right, Windows 7 allows you to do a backup on a CD. I can do that!

Yes you are right it does .... I would not advise that though .... Reason being they are just to small would take so many and IMO are not that reliable

To be 100% honest I don't need any software backup. I need only a backup of the files on the second partition. I am too scared that the repair will fail or will not fix the problem. I don't know how I am going to do a backup, I really don't! I think that I will have to buy an external drive, at least for my own good!
