Hi Dynentan,

I just installed a fresh installation of windows on my computer, and i get a message that says windows resource protection found corrupt files everytime i run a system file check. I want to know how to solve it?

NOTE: The light blue text below is the relevant link to the tutorial, just click it!

If the SFC scan results report any errors, then run it again two or three more times, re-booting in between. For some reason, this can make a difference. I think it has to do with the settings.ini file sometimes showing false positives! If after that, you get a message saying Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them, then post the CBS.log which is located in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. I am sure that someone here will be able to look at the log file and give you an answer or advice.

This tutorial [Published by Brink] will show you how to upload the file =>

I hope this helps!

Hi Dynentan,

NOTE: The light blue text below are the relevant links to my batch file and the tutorial, just click them!

IMPORTANT: The following command can only be run AFTER you have run the SFC [System File Checker] and must be run from an elevated command prompt. It will only extract errors found in the CBS.log file.

  • Click Start.
  • In the search box type cmd.
  • Right-click the cmd icon from the search results under Programs and select Run as administrator.
  • The elevated command prompt window will now open.
Copy findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log > "%userprofile%\Desktop\sfc_details.txt" [yes there are four spaces in there] and Paste it [you need to use the mouse right-click and paste for this as CTRL+V doesn’t work] into the elevated command prompt window and press Enter.

When this has finished running, it places a sfc_details.txt file on the desktop. Please upload the file. I am sure that someone here will be able to look at the log file and give you an answer or advice.

ALTERNATIVELY: You can download and run my batch file from here =>
View attachment Extract_SFC_ERRORS_From_The_CBS_Log.bat.
It is easier and performs exactly the same process as the method above [places a sfc_details.txt file on the desktop].

This tutorial [Published by Brink] will show you how to upload the file =>

I hope this helps!

Hi Dynentan,

Im not sure if i want to share files publicly.

There is absolutely nothing personal within the file.

The data it produces will help us to determine what the issue/problem is. Without this information we will not be able to help you!

Download and run my batch file [which ONLY extracts the ERRORS from the CBS.log file] and take a look at the sfc_details.txt file on your desktop. You will see what I mean.

Yes, you can analyse the sfc_details.txt file yourself, should you have the time and aptitude.

so far i have tried a few solutions

  • run sfc i safemode
  • run it as administrator
  • tried the cmd command dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
  • tried running sfc systemfilecheck multiple times
  • made sure to run chkdsk first

See if I understand you correctly. :D

You get a message that say there is a system repair pending which requires reboot.
Then what happens if you let it continue, it reboots and the message appears again?
It repeats over and over?

there is one thing though.
when you install windows, theres a lot of programs in the start menu that i dont need, so i have gotten rid of them.
i noticed that if you run sfc, some of them comes back again.
maybe this is the root of the problem?

Please POS an mgadiag report. It should tell us enough to at least solve the not genuine problem!

Please follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see what the problem is.

Windows Genuine and Activation Issue Posting Instructions - Windows 7 Help Forums

Ignore errors produced when clicking on the Copy button - they simply mean that the tool could not create the backup files for some reason. The data is still copied to the clipboard for pasting to your response.

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!
