I performed an sfc /scannow because I thought I was having a few issues at starting, shutting down and also with explorer.exe.

The final reply was that there were some issues that sfc could not repair.

I am posting the corresponding zipped CBS.log hopping someone will kindly help me solve these issues.

Hello Neophile mate I have not much idea about the results you posted except they do seem to have quite a number of unusual error faults.

What I might suggest is this for starters if you haven't already

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html < if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2

I would also run these for an extra option - again if you haven't already
http://www.superantispyware.com/
http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/
ADW download from bleeping computer delete any rubbish found with the malware scans
(NB If one is running Kaspersky security it may rant about ADW - just ignore it or disable Kaspersky while the ADW is being used)
