system hdd now data only; how delete system restore point data?

Drive used to be system disk on another computer, but now only used to extract old data. Cleaning up, but can't take ownership of Sys Vol stuff, so can't delete what is now "junk". Not using a great deal of space, but makes DIR listings messy.

The System Volume Information Folder may not be junk. I've seen the Folder on second internal HDDs unless it was turned off for that drive, I did it for my D: drive. This page should help:

If you turn SR off for that storage drive and it is still there you should be able to delete it.

If that doesn't apply then you can try Take Ownership Shortcut.

Keep in mind that the correct way to delete System files or an old OS is to move the data off the partition and delete it in Disk Mgmt, in order to also clear the partition table of old boot code and for multiple other reasons. So even if you fight your way through permissions to delete an entire OS, it still is on a bootable partition with boot code that can interfere going forward.
