Hi! Some time back, I was experimenting, and followed someone's advice from online - to change my experience index (in the system folder). But today, I looked up the subject again, and it sounds like it may take up more space, and that it is used mostly for playing games - and I never play games. Should I change the experience index to the normal level -would that be best for my computer? If so, how do I do that? Can you explain how? Thanks!

The windows experience index is a report generated by the WinSAT tool. The tool helps the user match the performance of the hardware to that of the software requirements. It generates a report with a "score" of 1 through to 5.9 for Windows 7 machines. The overall system rating is not an average, but reflects the lowest score of your hardware. It might be that hte advice you were following online was from an article for improving the WEI score for a hard drive. You cannot change the score via the WinSAT tool. The only way I am aware of, of changing the score, is to upgrade the hardware component with the lowest score.

Some users have been know to edit the scores to make themselves feel better but changing the scores that way has no effect on system performance.
The only way to change them, as has been stated, is to upgrade your system.
