System recovery windows 7 question!

I have a laptop that was originally vista and I installed windows 7 on it. If I do system recovery will it get rid of 7 and take me back to vista??

It should go back to Vista. Open your recovery partition and see what it says.

when you do a recovery, it should go back to your system state - vista. agree with whs.
so please tell us what's your specific problem? :D

Depending on what you used to install Windows7, there may be ways to reinstall Windows7 too. What you need is a valid Win7 product key.

Well my problem is that my computer gets stuck "configuring updates" during startup so I just wanted to do a system recovery to start my computer off fresh. And I bought my computer close enough to the release date of windows 7 that Microsoft gave me the free upgrade. But I don't remember where I left the disc and I don't want to have to go back to windows vista.

You can download and burn a Windows7 SP1 .iso from here. The problem is that we are not sure whether the product key on your COA sticker will activate that because the PC was originally Vista. You might try with the key that your current Win7 upgrade has. You find that with a keyfinder - e.g. Jelly Bean.
