Solved System Repair USB not working but System Repair disc is.

I have decided recently to create a system repair disc in case something goes wrong with my computer. Using recdisc.exe, I created a system repair disc and everything worked out fine. Once I booted with the repair disc, I got a screen that looks like this:

66b9e3c2-bb67-47bf-802c-b753b54bcc19_48.jpg

This is what I wanted

I decided to make a recovery USB as well for convenience. (USB is much faster and is less bulky than a regular DVD)

I copied everything in the DVD, and pasted in my USB (the USB is an active and a primary partition). When I boot into the USB however, I do not get the System Recovery Options screen, but the HP Recovery Manager screen. I personally dislike HP recovery manager and want to get the Windows System Recovery Options screen.

If I try to close the HP Recovery Manager, a dialog pops up asking if it should close HP Recovery Manager and reboot. Can someone tell me if I did something wrong to create the USB Recovery drive? I don't know what I did wrong, I copied everything from the disc (which works perfectly) to the USB (which suddenly decided not to work.) In case anyone was wondering, the HP Recovery Manager looks like this:
maxresdefault.jpg

I don't know if this is relevant, but the CD drive is first in my boot order. Once I have a repair CD in my computer, it automatically loads. For me to access the USB, I have to manually boot into the USB using BIOS. Thanks for reading.

Hi

you cant just copy and past it into the usb drive it has to be bootable. i have not done it before but see if this helps you. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/92177-boot-windows-7-system-repair-disc-usb-using-grub4dos.html

Thanks for the quick reply! I will follow the tutorial and will update whether I was successful or not.

This partially worked out, I managed to get to this screen:

HP USB Repair.jpg

On my CD Repair disc, Windows Recovery Options detects the OS fine. It cannot on the USB however.

Push, shove, turn upside down or what ever you want to call it.

This Tutorial below is the best way to post pictures on this forum. I also don't tick on hyper links to see pictures. It's not safe because we don't have any idea where the link is going to send us.

Tutorial by brink:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/9733-screenshots-files-upload-post-seven-forums.html

Using this tutorial will send a picture from your computer to the forums computer and in your post. No Man In The Middle. It's safer and easier for us to give help.
