so how would i go about fixing this? should i just delete both using the guide on the forums?

*i placed a file to test whether they were independent partitions but what i did to one the other also had the same file.

You've found one of the biggest reasons I despise multi-boot systems, especially if you onl have one hard drive to use.

I'm not sure what I'm looking at, though, in terms of what you want to keep. Assuming only C, D, and E are what you want to keep, I'd just get Partition Wizard and delete the unneeded partititons. Then, you can move C to the beginning of the drive.

Back up your data first, so if anything goes wrong, at least you can run a clean install and partition properly.

When you post a Disk Mgmt screenshot please maximize the window and include the Drive Map and Listings showing all columns. Then tell us what is on each partition and what you want to do.

If you delete System Reserved and it is now System Active flagged, then in order to boot Win7 you need to mark it's partition Active and run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times to write the System boot files to the Active partition.

But first post what we need to advise you correctly.
