System Restore Point Not Available

Hi,

I am confused. The screenshot below shows that a system protection point was automatically created after midnight today, but I do not have a corresponding system restore point. Am I not understanding how System Restore points work?

I have read the tutorial, but it doesn't answer my question. The screenshot shows that a system protection point was successfully created at 3/16 12:40AM. The Screen Shot also shows that the last available System Restore Point is from 3/14.

Why do I not have a System Restore Point from 3/16 12:40 AM?

I'm not sure if will help but put a check mark in Show more Restore Points.

I think they are ordered by date descending so a restore point from early today should be listed at the top.

I checked the show more restore points just to make sure and there were no other point.

I don't really know the answer but you could make a new restore point and check that it is there after rebooting.

vssadmin list shadows

The command line displays the system restore points available in the System Restore Point dialog.

I am beginning to think that although a system protection point is created on a nightly basis, this does not necessarily always generate a system restore point . They are two different things? IE some event has to have occurred since the last system protection point to result in a new restore point?
