System Restore Stops Working

Let me just make it known that I am a total idiot when it comes to complicated computer problems. My computer has been acting up lately and running slow so a friend suggested I do a system restore and have it reset back to factory settings. Well....I have been trying this unsuccessfully for 24 hours now. As it is restoring my computer, it gets to 17% complete and it sits there for several hours. Is that normal? I really need some help alor advice on this. I need my computer and right now it is completely unuseable. HELP! PLEASE!

Welcome to Seven Forums

There is a difference between system restore and restoring the system to factory settings. You can use the system restore to restore files and settings to a earlier date and it would not affect your documents.
