Hi all.
This is my very first post on these forums. I have tried searching for a solution to my problem, and persistent 'googling' led me to this site.
Here is my issue...
From the 27/07/10, I have mysteriously started getting this 'SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION' BSOD whenever I attempt to start a game from the Steam UI. It doesn't occur every single time, and not with every game. It is entirely random at that point, but it does happen only when I attempt to launch a game from the UI. Most times, I can reboot and restart the same game from Steam again, and it runs fine.
I used a small app called 'Bluescreenview' and it identified a driver file: win32k.sys, and ntoskrnl.exe as the culprits. Beyond this however, I cannot identify what app or process is causing the BSOD.
System specs are as follows:
CPU:Intel Core i7 920
MB: MSI X58-Pro
RAM: 3 x 2GB Corsair Dominator DDR3-1600
GPU: 2 x [Sapphire] ATI Radeon 5850 (CrossfireX)
PSU: Cooler Master Silent Pro M 1000W
Windows 7 info:
- x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? x64
- the original installed OS on the system? yes...installed from scratch, not an upgrade
- an OEM or full retail version? full retail
- OEM = came pre-installed on system no
- Full Retail = you purchased it from retailer yes
- What is the age of system (hardware)? GPUs and PSU, six months, all other components, 18 months.
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) 04/10/2009 (oct 2009)
I have attached two of the last dumps from my C:\Windows\Minidump folder.
I am having a bit of trouble finding the 'BSOD Dump & System File Collection app' which was mentioned in the posting instructions thread however.
Please, feel free to point out any pertinent information that I may have missed.
Any help that you can provide will be greatly appeciated.
