i was just wondering, I successfully changed my system start sound from stock to my own thing, but is it possible to switch out the .wav with another one of the same name to change the system start sound whenever i want without having to go through all that f8 and cmd prompt crap.

hopefully there is an answer with experience instead of just me jumping in and experimenting with possible f-ups

ok, i think i get it then. its not a referrer to the .wav file, the startup sound actually gets saved into the .dll

so its okay to delete the original .wav if i dont need it then?

If you've replaced the two .wav files, as you are on 64-bit. One in imageres.dll in shell32 and one in imageres.dll in SysWOW64, and everything is OK then yes, you could throw away the old original one. Personally, I wouldn't.

My original 865kb .wav has been replaced with one 2.3mb with no problems.
