System wont start

When I start the laptop it goes e-system, then loading windows files when completed it goes windows with a loading bar moving across mouse appears then it goes to blue screen and says

"STOP: c000021a {fatal system error) The NT Initial command process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc000""01 (0x00000000 0x00000000). The system has been shut down."

When hit f8 all options go to blue screen accept " safe mode with command prompts" where it has a long loading list of system files, where it stops at Loaded:\windows\system32\drivers\disk\sys. Having loaded this is then goes to a black screen which never changes.

On a side note I have to put the CD recovery disk In other wise it says "BOOTMGR cannot be found" any and all help would be appreciated.

Now if you have an activation code on the sticker usually on the bottom of the machine you can use this for a clean install if you want to go that way

Can you boot through USB.
If entering Safe Mode too becomes a problem,
I suggest you to do a Clean Reinstall Factory OEM
Backup your Data through any Linux Boot USB available, OR Create one using Linux Live USB Creator with Light linuxes (Slitaz, DSL, Puppy).

The steps will work the same for Vista, except you'll need Vista ISO - Download and Create Installation DVD or USB for repairs or possible reinstall.

I think im in the complete wrong forum but, im confused as my "system recovery disk" says "Microsoft Windows XP home edition sp 2 protions 2007 however certain loading screens say "windows vista" so is i XP or VISTA?


the only specs i could find is
BIOS Version 1.08
EC Version 1.07

Processor
CPU Type intel celeron cpu 530 1.74 GHz
processor intel core inside

A few questions for you so that we may better help you.
Have a look under your laptop and see if you have a sticker there with the operating system license. Don't quote the license number here just confirm what operating system is shown. Is it Windows XP or Vista? If you can't see the sticker try removing the battery and see if the sticker is in that compartment.
Have you had this laptop since new? If not do you know it's history?

May I slip in here and if the budget ill go opt it a new drive and an OEM of 7? You can always slip the XP from that drive into the new install if you like (dual boot).

The processor in this lappy seems to be about 7 years old so I wonder if the rest of the spec would be compatible with Windows 7?
If Daniel could give us the make and model number of the machine and it's approximate age we may be able to see if it is man enough. Meantime Gerald, is there any data on the machine that you need to save as re installing any operating system will mean you will loose all the data files.

Had noticed that John but if the OP cannot get the machine to boot he can't get to the specs!

EDIT: Have now looked further and the OP's spec shows a Desktop PC with a Celeron processor and is an E Machine! Yet he refers to the machine as a laptop. I'm a bit cofused. His timezone is confusing too, I think he is in the UK though!

BOOTABLE UBUNTU

Make a bootable Ubuntu disk http://www.ubuntu.com/download

Set the BIOSto boot from the optical when the machine boots it will show you a screen with TRY or INSTALL >select TRY.You can of course remove the hard driveand any other drives when doing this as if the optical alone is the only driveleft in the machine then the BIOS willonly find it to boot from.

When it isfinished - it takes very little time you will get a screen like in the pic .

Open thedrive you want > User and dig down until you get to the data / settings you may be able to copy / paste the materialyou want to an external source or other installed drive doing this.

I am notsure if it will but I have recovered tons of data etc using this method both on"dead" or just plain drives that you cannot get data from using Windows.

Daniel can run Speccy from Ubuntu or if it baulks at that then at least the Ubuntu will let us know what is on board.

Yes that is what I would do but I wonder if the OP, as he is not too sure which OS he has, will manage to run Ubuntu successfully!

Good point mate but we shall have to assume so unless he says otherwise. Then it becomes a major exercise to do that in point form not that I would mind but it is a very drawn out way of doing it.
Frankly I cannot see nay other easy way of doing that.

It is a e-system laptop and I'm from U.K. I cannot get specs as it won't boot and cannot get assess to another PC the Laptop is about 6years of age and I cannot load any other discs including OEM 7 as it says BOOTMGR not found. And I don't care about backing it up all files can be cleared I don't care.

If you own a license for WIn7 then boot the installation media by tapping the key given on first boot screen for Boot Menu, then select DVD drive to boot. Does it prompt to "Press any key to boot disk?" If you don't actually own a license for Win7 and don't want to buy one, then I'd reinstall the XP which came with the PC since you have the reinstallation media.

First you need to boot the disk correctly: How to Boot A Computer from CD or DVD - YouTube

If it doesn't prompt to "Press any key to boot disk" then the media is bad so you'll need to clean the disk or burn a new one from a fresh ISO.

Where is the one for XP ? Also I done what you said accept the burn a new disc part and it didn't come up with the press any key it just goes straight into loading then mouse comes up then back to the blue screen
