I just upgraded my motherboard, RAM, Video card, and processor so I also went from Windows XP 32 Bit Home to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit. Every now and then I either get random restarts after a very brief blue screen or a blue screen where it freezes.

It gives the standard message along the lines of "Windows has been shutdown to avoid damage to your computer" or something to that effect. This time I wrote down the pertinent things it said that were not the standard message:

System_Service_Exception

***STOP: OxOOOOOO3B (OxOOOOOOOOCOOOOOO5, OxFFFFF8OOO2AD98E6,OxFFFFF88OO3D70620,0xOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO)

Note: I think the "Os" I was using were actually zeros. Just trying to make it look as much like it did on my screen.

I have tried to isolate certain programs that might be causing this but it happens when I am playing online games and when I am not playing online video games. Sometimes when I am streaming movies on Netflix, etc. And no dicernable pattern. Sometimes I get super fast blue screens that I cannot read and it restarts the computer before I can see them. But sometimes it just freezes up giving an error message like the one I showed above.

We need the actual DMP file created when the computer crashed. Use these instructions to find and upload. http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lockup-debug-how/34900-1-novice-how-ask-help-bsod-problem.html

Thanks

Can't find the file.

I just reformatted again, replaced the hard drive, and changed to a different version of windows. This one Windows 7 Home Premium. I am still getting BSODs. I tried looking for the file you are talking about and did a search, the search yielded no results. What do I need to do to find this file?

Navigate to c:/windows/Minidump, zip up the .dmp file and add it as an attachment to your next post... ;)

That's just it, no such file exists. I did a search in windows for C:Windows/Minidump and found nothing.

I looked in other threads trying to figure out how to solve that problem and MEMORY.DMP was the thing I was told to look for. That is also nowhere to be found.

If you enabled memory dumps to be made, then it is time to sit tight and wait for a new BSOD.

There is no such thing as an idiot question. Asking questions is how you learn. :D

Assuming that memory dumps were not enabled before, you simply don't have any. As Jonathan pointed out, if you now enabled them, the next BSOD should trigger a memory dump.

Ok.

I think I enabled minidumps. One of my friends has been running mem test on individual pieces of my ram to see if any of them are in some way causing the problem. So far I have not had more BSODs.

That is good news. I hope they are banished.

Grrr... apparently I had not enabled mini-dumps as I had hoped, I got a memory dump file but it is huge. I think I have it enabled correctly now though. (Yes, I got another BSOD.)

The other thing is the BSOD message is different every time. This time it was like Page_on_no_page or something like that.

You can upload the large file if you want. Just compress it in a zip folder, and then upload it to Rapidshare.

Ok, I thought the problem was gone again, I had just re-installed Windows 7 Professional. It is still not making Mini-dumps and I had my friend who actually knows what he is doing be sure that it would. It did say it had finished a dump of physical memory and I got a Memory.dmp file but when I search for the files that have been suggested in this thread they do not exist on my computer. I am going to upload what I do have and hopefully that will help us get to the source. I only installed like five programs hoping to find out what was causing it.

here's the link to his memory.dmp file:

Sorry to t ell you but the full DMP doesnt give any useful info.

Check your control panel to insure kernel mini-dump is checked

Someone said earlier in the thread that you could get info from it? My friend followed the directions to the letter to enable mini-dumps. It is not creating the files. It says it does during the BSODs, but we cannot locate any file with that extension at all on my computer.
