Task Scheduler

I can not get the task scheduler to operate. I have entered two tasks, neither one will run. I can not delete these task so I can reenter them. Services show that Task Scheduler is running, but I can not turn off. All tabs are grayed out. My thinking is that if I could somehow dump the existing tasks I proceed. I get this error message when I try to schedule a task. "Transaction support within the specified resource manager is not started or was shut down due to an error (0x80071A91)"

Now I don't know what you've done to create this situation but I can tell you how to disable TaskScheduler tasks.

Download, install and run Autoruns.exe from the SysInternals website.
When you run Autoruns, be sure to "Run as administrator".
You will find a TaskScheduler tab, uncheck anything you do not want "scheduled".

Personally, I uncheck everything that lands there because I want to control when a task runs.

No Joy, Autoruns gives me the same error message I have been getting when I tried to delete the setting in Task scheduler. "Transaction support within specified resource manager is not started or was shut down"

The program I was trying to run is Casper Backup. I have run the schedule in both XP and Vista with success.

I am running as Adminstrator

You cannot change the settings for a file backup operation or use Windows Task Scheduler to change the defrag schedule in Windows Vista

That program is not listed in the Application Compatibility list. Suggest you contact the manufacturer and ask if they have a Win 7 version.

I solved the problem by reloading Win7 as an upgrade. Task Scheduler works fine and it saved all my settings. Thanks
