[Taskbar] I can't change the color

Hello everybody,
When I downloaded the trail version of Windows 7, I believe it was build 7100, I could simply edit the taskbar's color with:

Start>Control Panel>Appearance and Personalisation>Personalisation>Windows Color

I would get a menu with a slider, which could edit the color of the taskbar and change its translucency.

However, now I got the Ultimate version of Windows 7, whenever I press the window color button I get this popup box:

Am I missing something? Is my video card not good enough?

My system rating is 1,0. The worst rating possible. So probably windows refused to let me change these settings. Any idea to disable this?

I'm not sure but I think you need to have 3,0 score in order for Aero to be enabled and THEN you'll be able to change taskbar's color and translucency.

Did you install all the necessary drivers?

Post your system specs here and let's see what we can sort out. You may need to download drivers for your graphics card. That may help your overall index score.

Or in the same window as the system rating?

Oh, btw, could you tell me which drivers to download exactly?
Or does that depend on which drivers you're already using?

I have the exact same problem, I also have a 1,0 raiting and i also can't change the colour of my task bar , which is rather irritating cause this colour right now is kinda wierd on my eyes... .

See if you can change the color by right clicking on you're desktop and choosing 'Personalize'. click on "Window Color", under the 'themes' pictures. I've set mine to purple for the minute

You might want to try to look for drivers if the pc wasnt sold with Windows 7. Might be missing a graphic driver.
Also can we see a screenshot with a explorer (folder) open?

Oh and Jacee that windows color is so 'girly'

At the moment, I´m trying to hack my WEI score. Maybe that helps...

Ivar, go to Control Panel, click on Performance Information and Tools, then View and print detailed performance and system information. Post a screenshot of that info. You may need to update your graphics drivers.

Of course hacking your WEI wont help at all. If you are missing drivers, you have to download them. If you graphic card cant do aero it cant. Nothing can be changed by trying to cheat Windows.

I fixed it , yay ! I had a score of 1,0 ealier and i have 5,5 now , all i did was install the latest driver for my graphics card (thanks to driverdetective for pointing that out to me ) and it's all better. Hope that helps the other guy aswell

Ivar , most likely it will be your graph card that needs updating. If you have updated this driver and it still wont work i would suggest installing the trial version of driverdetective and you can see which drivers are missing.

Like stated, your WEI won't help the fact that you do not have display drivers or have them up-to-date. Find out what graphics card you have, then find the drivers for it.

It appears that unless U have the most uptodate system, your screwed. Should off stayed with XP.

Hi so I'm having the same problem. However my Windows Index is 5.9. I just went to my graphics card's website and checked for driver updates, it said my video card drivers were updated. I also ran my driver search software (RadarSync), and it came up with nothing (as far as I know) that could be causing this.
Any help would be very greatly appreciated, thanks!

Make sure that u have deffinatly turn off desktop manager cus u wont be able to do it while that is in use
