Taskbar Items / System Tray Items - Open in Order

Hello Guys,

Got around to installing Windows 7 on my home desktop and laptop. Am rather impressed with everything compared to Vista (speed, etc) but have one big annoyance - the taskbar.

I have my taskbar set to traditional mode where each window gets its own taskbar item (ie if I have 4 Firefox windows open, I have 4 Firefox taskbar items show up). I also don't use the Pin functionality as I dislike it.

In <=Vista, every time a new window opened, it would open to the right of the taskbar. In 7, it likes to group applications of the same type (Firefox for example) together. Any way I can get it to revert to how <=Vista did it?

I also have the same problem with system tray icons.

Best Regards,
Craig Brass

Hi Welcome to SF,

You could try this,

Right Click on Task Bar > Properties > Task-bar Buttons > From the Drop Down select Never Combine

Hope this helps

I already have that set to Never Combine which is why if I have 4 Firefox windows open, it shows all on the taskbar.

Because Firefox is open in separate Tabs not separate Windows i guess that is why. If you open another Firefox it won't combine.

Hope this helps

I hope that the Captains advice works. It is the approach that I would use. I would be interested in knowing the result. Please come back and give us the results. If you were not successful, you will receive further help. If your problem is corrected, you will be helping others in this forum, like myself, since I am not too informed about FF.

I don't think you understand what I mean. I don't mean Firefox tabs as I tend not to have to many tabs per window when I am working.

Take a look at http://www.craigbrass.net/personal/images/screenshots/291209-135314.jpg - I then open another Firefox window and it looks like http://www.craigbrass.net/personal/images/screenshots/291209-135702.jpg

In <=Vista, it would of opened that to the right of where I have Thunderbird at the right (in order of opening).

Oh .. OK i guess there is no way around this I'm sorry :(
Unless anyone around here know any other option

I guess, there is no option to make a new explorer Window to be opened at the last right !!!. I too checked and see that windows of similar programs tend to open continuously. :(
