Solved taskbar

Hi

What I would like to know, if you know, how can I remove this feature completely so that when I right click on a folder that resides on the task bar nothing happens, no menu appears. I have done all the obvious settings like no right click etc. but this menu still appears on right click.

Why you may ask, well I work in a school and a bright young chap has discovered that if you right click one of these folders and it opens the common menu, you can then flick the task bar to the top of the screen using your left button and you cannot get down again (the only way is to delete their profile). Obviously we have lots of restrictions in place to stop the movement of the task bar but this does work and maybe it is a glitch in the OS I don't know but very annoying.

Any help would be appreciated

Hello Ebananetman, and welcome to Seven Forums.

I don't think you are referring to the same thing that's in the tutorial on the first page. It sounds like you may be referring to jump lists instead. Please post a screenshot of this to help be sure though.
If you have not already, you might see if this below may help prevent the taskbar from being able to be moved.
Hope this helps for now, :)
Shawn

Task Bar

Hi, thanks for that . I have tried all you suggest but I think what is happening here is not expected or supposed to happen. I have no right click on the task bar, its fixed in the bottom position and the task bar is locked so it cannot be moved.

Thinking about it I think you are right and it is the jump list, but what this allows is the movement of the task bar when the jump list is being shown.

When the jump list is shown, by right clicking the pinned folder icon, then you move the mouse to an unoccupied part of the task bar and using the left mouse button you can drag the task bar it then jumps to the top of the screen but you can not get it back down unless you go into the settings and enable it all again.

I don't think a screen shot will help here unless I can get a recorder to record the actions involved.

I can't reproduce moving the taskbar like that.

A few screenshots showing this step by step may help to ID the issue.

I see now. Interesting.

I'm able to reproduce it in a Windows 7 VM, even with the policy enabled as well.

This is definitely a bug. I'll report it to Microsoft to see if they may be able to issue an update or hotfix for it later.

Thank you Dean. I was just fixing to look to see if one may already be available.

I've added the hotfix link to the related tutorials to help anyone else with the same issue.

I downloaded the fix and installed and it works, it has stopped the task bar from moving as previously stated.

Thank you so much for all your help you have no idea what this means to our school.
