Hum that took less than two minutes. So my next query is how do you communicate say if I were in Oz and someone was in say Russia as the phone bill would be horrendous how do you ask questions I've seen notepad mentioned somewhere but have not got a clue how to use it?

Well I know how to pull it up but say if I type "Are you ready to start" - does the answer come back in that window? the couple of videos I just watched didn't mention that part.

I have 7 for 7 on here! That has been 100% all the time from the one install for each of the two 7 machines.

Now for getting stuck royally when seeing a different language applied for some reason you can get out of it fast enough with just a little Bing leg work or should I say the Bing Translator

I;ve had to use that a good number of times to get something translated since the only solution for a particular problem may be found on a non English speaking forum or the guide or support won't be in English. If you ever get stuck with a language pack being applied simply copy and paste until you can reset!

I was helping a lady over teamviewer and just pulled up notepad on her computer so we could communicate that way, couple of times we would both be typing so it came out confusing, using something like > was a good way to denote when each other was finished.

Agreeing beforehand to a signal, like shaking the cursor, when one wants to type, will help too.

So far I haven't run into any of that with the TV 7 version! :roflmao:

With the two pcs here someone can watch as I tend to a task on the second 7 machine or I can monitor things as well as remotely change settings on something while at the main. The file transfer option has been reliable but tends to be slow.

Once I get the old Vista case running again for the second time since a friend has been using that I will set up TV there as well for troubleshooting the problems as well as monitoring things like temps and voltages rather then going back and forth to look something up I can analyze any dump files remotely to find out where the problem is. At present only the main can access anything on the mini tower while that can only view the main to prevent outside interference.

I been using TV for a while now but just for Quick remote sessions.
There are a lot of user options i hadn't looked at, So thanks for the Well layed out Tuturial. It is a Great FREE program to top things off. Thanks Doc!

Doc made an excellent find with TV! There isn't any doubt on that at all!

The free for home is loaded good with the extras you typically would not expect to see in a trial or free for home version with too many other programs. Generally you don't get a full functioning anything with other wares until you pay for them.

ok so how is the speed of this connection guys? like whats the lag time between computers?

the bottom line is how reliable would this be if i wanted to use my crummy laptop to play games on my quadcore desktop at home from a friends house? would there be lag-time between actions? would it just crap out altogether?

cause if it works no problem.. even with a little bit of lag.. that would be so freakin sweet.

It will depend a lot on your connections' speeds. There is a fair lag under normal conditions anyway. It's not intended to be fast enough for game play, but would be a good science experiment.

hopefully those would be pretty ok speeds... ill probably try this out anyways.. wouldnt call it a science experiment.. but an experiment nonetheless lol

EDIT: tried it out playing "Civilization 5", it works so long as your not playing in 3D.. the game gets too laggy for that. while its still a bit choppy here and there its still moderately playable.. but i dont recommend playing a game that is in any way time sensitive. turn based games are probably the best way to go.

say if i had a much better laptop than a Toshiba with AMD E-3000 APU and 4GB of RAM.. i might get slightly better results.. but then again im not really sure if this whole connection business is completely dependent on your internet speed or not.. hopefully someone with better hardware could try for something better!

The concepts on which TV works are not for multiplayers and gaming in general but remote access between machines. For gaming with more then one pc you then have the need for a gaming server of some type whlie this works directly by logging into the desktop remotely. You can also set one machine to be only able to view only blocking any direct access.

The bandwidth is another thing since you don't even need the same ISP or identical connection on each machine being used. The remote pc here uses WiFi while the main is hard wired by Cat 6 ethernet cable into a router. The router itself has it's own firewall on top of what the av program has to work as a double layer. Fortunately the av program as well as Team Viewer are found to be light on resources while file transfers rely more oh now large the one or more files since there is a size limit to some extent on the free version.

Another thing about TV is finding you can transfer files directly without any inbetween removable media or devices used like flash drives to reduce the spread of any malwares. You can also service an OS remotely without having to be physically present at the machine itself to enter commands manually at a command prompt or go over settings on things whether in Windows or some software.

Yeah, TeamViewer isn't too shabby, all things considered. But security is my primary concern, so I've gone with RHUB's appliance. To each his own, tho. lol

You can set one pc like the host pc to not be remote enabled preventling incoming "hack" attempts? or other uninvited events while having a second or third pc remote enabled. The strength of the password(s) and user name(s) used will also be a contributor as far as the security concerns. TV itself has a random user name/password generator which can be an even better way to secure! Even you will tend to forget which has what on occasion.

Here I regular have a second 7 more of a portable mini tower I can set up anywhere with WiFi and have complete remote access mainly for monitoring purposes. I use the small as a loaner to someone visiting not having a laptop while servicing them at times. It can be set up to a security system for capturing video while being monitored while away by way of the main case. I can also stop people(kids) from playing around with things while there are only the basics presently on mainly to prevent unwanted software installs as well as malwares by novice use.

The program itself is light weight which is one thing that will make many happy to try it. I have it set to start up with 7 on the mini but not on the main however since the mini will serve mostly for the remote.

Hi guys,

I can't get Teamviewer 11 to install on my Win7-64 bit PC. Closed the antivirus, tried to run it as admin, downloaded it multiple times, but the setup just won't start.

Anyone knows how to fix this?
