Lol, absolutely agree - and not to mention the add-on consequences of adware, malware etc.I feel the reason that Windows computers indeed slow down so much over time is because of the huge availability of software which is available for them. People just don't seem to be able to help themselves when it comes to downloading something new and installing it and trying it out to see how it works
And OP: I don't see anything wrong with Macs; yes one has to pay a premium but they look gorgeous; aesthetics does also matter to me. There is a lot of rubbish in the Windows market, esp. of laptops.

actually for around 650 to 750 right now i can get a win 7 laptop that will blow away that 1100 mac laptop. macs are great for those with busy lives and do not want the hassle of doing the grunt work of keeping a system cleaned out. pc's are great for those that either do not mind the grunt work or simply like doing a lot if it by hand because then they know for sure it got done. as for a programs uninstaller do not use them. if you are going to buy any piece of software for a pc make sure it is a good uninstaller program like "your uninstaller". as for registry defrag never done it. honestly do not see the need, nor do i trust these programs not to destroy the registry. if i really need to remove items from the registry i use "registry help pro", and use it's search feature. as for back up any good imaging program will do. as for something like time machine try rollback rx. after roxio messed up goback i found rollback and have been using it ever since. i'm sorry but i'm not paying a 350 to 450 dollar premium for a pretty case.
