When I click a pdf file listed on a google search result page and opt to open versus save I still see that the file is downloaded (versus opened in browser memory with no physical download). Does the browser (in this instance FF but I would assume that IE handles this similarly) delete the file after the pdf is closed or is there a pile of pdf's somewhere on my drive that I need to find and delete?

Hi Mark, check your FF default save location.

When you open a File and not Save it - The File is stored in a Temporary Location which is cleared when you Shutdown your Computer

This happens with IE Not 100% sure if it does with FF

The default file save location for IE and FF is set to the same and is always empty after opening versus saving a pdf. I was thinking that there was another location similar to that when you open an attachment, read it and then close an email that actually saves the file as a function of reading the file and that there might be an accumulation of files from both actions over time.

I still have to check to be 100% sure but I think that a file opened and not saved... IS saved in a temp dir not equal to the dir used when saving before opening is used. Have you tried searching your harddisk for (a portion of) the filename after closing it?

One last similar question. What about all the MS update files after they are run and the updates update.

They will be Deleted after They have finished the process - The Update Files have a Script to follow which has tasks on after they have completed the last task is to Delete itself

The Only Space created by an Update is the Update itself (If any) and a System Restore Point
