Temporary Profile on System Restore

So Windows Live was bugging my backup by occupying a drive so instead of uninstalling all those components, I used system restore. On return, my three profiles, an administrator, a user, and a parental monitored account (via windows live) were rendered unpersonalized and temporary. Log on was possible to each, but saving was not, each time a temporary profile was given. I gave up after an hour including restore undo (actually, I picked the pre-restore date).

Here are some speculations...

-I performed system restore within an admin profile that did not exist on the restore date.
-I have c:\Users mounted as a separate partition, which WAS present on the restore data.
-Windows Live seemed to change quite a bit of local user policy on the parental monitored account

No trouble shooting necessary, used a recent system image. I just need to know if i can use system restore or just focus on system image.

Mounted drives are a second partition. Windows 7 Backup and Restore look for only the system partition. If home-use software included this function to cover many drives, it could displace server edition sales.
Workaround is mount the directory c:\Users as a drive. So far I can only mount as the letter.
