No myself and nearly everyone on this forum has had allot of good to say about this new and innovative OS!! Speed is great and startup and shutdown times are quicker, uses less RAM, CPU seems to run cooler, one great OS and it's only a BETA!!

This is just a bunch of FUD.

The only problem is the Graphics Card drivers. It runs great on my P3 and P4's. Haven't tested it on a P2... Yet..

There *might* be some incompatibilities with some systems.. But YMMV.

on the contrary. my business deals primarily with small business market and they are in IT terms very cost conscious. windows 7 is going to extend the useful service life of a lot of systems already in place. our test machines 2 desktop exclusive units, and two toshiba vista dual boot machines show remarkable improvement over vista. the laptops (1 year old) were actually scheduled to have vista replaced with xp just because i dont like hauling around a doorstop during the day. for the laps especially the improvement in performance almost across the board is significant.

I've had zero problems with 32 and 64 bit 7. Nothing slow here, unlike Johns time machine, I just have a crappy dual core AMD system :p

Perhaps if you fill out your specs Infekted, we can see what kind of "powerhouse' you have.

I have some mild issues, and this machine isn't exactly bottom of the range... though I blame most of my performance issues on my lack of RAM (1GB) and Avast (Which has the nack of randomly eating CPU)

Perhaps something else is wrong. I haven't tried to install on any older machines, but I will give it a try.

I am running Seven on three machines.

1 - AMD Athlon 3500+ @ 2.2Ghz & 1GB RAM

1- AMD 64 X2 4200+ @ 2.2Ghz & 2GB RAM

1 - AMD Turion X2 @ 2.4Ghz & 2.5GB RAM

Seven runs flawlessly on all machines. I only wished AIM worked on Windows Seven.

A.K.A. Thank God Microsoft got their schtuff right! Now I don't have to buy my staff new computers for another 3 years atleast (amirite?)

OP I personally feel you're just using a really really bad computer. Windows 7 runs fine for (mostly) every user on this site. Why you would be having problems is beyond me.

You're jumping to conclusions. So we can better assess your compatibility with Windows 7, please put your system specs in your User CP/Profile. I've heard of low-end computers resulting in performance gains from upgrading to Windows 7 Beta, so perhaps this is related to a faulty ISO or a motherboard/BIOS issue.

just so you know, i loaded windows 7 on a machine i built three years ago for my son now lying unused. abit motherboard, amd processor, 2 gb ram on that unit. saphire graphics, fired right up, except for onboard lan. an external nic card solved that in under a minute (dlink). if you can get vista compat drivers for it, it will run. btw, it runs great.

if you are having issue, my first question would be are you using a brand name (i only use abit or asus myself) motherboard or a proprietary board from dell or similar manufacturer?

You can install the old AIM 5.9. I don't like the new AIM (6.0+) and immediately downloaded and installed AIM 5.9 without any problems.
