What are the plastic ties called that are used to tie your excess cables inside the PC? I need to buy some and don't know where to look. Thanks,

Home depot has a nice assorted container of them otherwise in the same section you should find them in gross packages in various lengths. I prefer the black zip ties in a medium length. If you go to Home Depot look for another valuable widget called Cable Cuffs, there orange and close down with a handcuff like ratchet and come in 3 or 4 sizes. Great for cable management behind the computer and around the house... believe me there very handy and you will go back for more! lol

I like the spiral type it has a neater look. Just start it at one end, and wrap till your done.

If you do get the spirals watch, they can be a little tricky to start, but once you reach where you want to go just snip off the excess.

With these, you can take them off, add more wires and put them right back on. This way you aren't poking around inside or the computer with a pair of scissors.

Cable Management

This site sells VERY cheap cable management stuff. I got 1000 zip ties for $4.

Never ever use scissors to clip a zipped zip tie, always use dikes/wire cutters. Also don't zip to the last click leave them snug but not tight. These wires we use in our systems can be worn in side of the cabling but over crimping.

Regular velcro has one side that you stick onto something and a second side which sticks to something else. You put the two pieces of velcro together and they stick.

With the two sided velcro straps....you simply wrap it around the object and it sticks directly to itself.

I use this stuff for all of my server cable management. My racks are full of it. But it's fantastic, as I can simply remove it, add to it and stick it right back on. If the piece is cut too short..I simply get another piece and they stick together to make 1 longer piece.

Cable ties are a thing of the past for me.

In my case I use a combo of both velcro ties and cable/zip ties. The cable ties in black disappear in the case where as the velcro has a more pronounced appearance. I totally agree the velcro is great for items that change out regularly. Also the added thickness makes the use of the velcro behind the mobo limited as well.
