Looking back at my college days, I suppose the illusional "Perfect OS" will able to sense that it's about to crash and take actions to NOT crash... OR warn the user that it's about to crash and is trying it's best not to crash...

Come on guys, wake up. There's nothing cslled as a perfect OS. Its just one's perspective. I can do what ever I want on windows, macs and linux OS. Its just a matter of preference. For me, Windows FTW. Reason: its endlessly configurable.

Really, I kid you not... This TV show stuff where some guy gets into a computer in 20 seconds or less, wrecks havoc on it and then leaves no trace... it simply that... TV show stuff. In real life it's as simple as "If you can't connect to it, you are crap out of luck."

And that is precisely why people who don't have a clue how to set up, and secure their machine, think you can always be hacked, no matter what steps you take to prevent it. As you've pointed out, that's simply NOT true. At least not in the real world. The television shows like CSI [or whatever] that show people hacking into computers is laughable. It's pure fantasy, and nothing more.

You can control EVERY ASPECT of network traffic coming and going from and to your network. This is 100% bulletproof.

And as for the perfect OS, I'm perfectly happy with Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I have no complaints whatsoever for what I use it for. A home OS.

Ahhh... the BKC-100 error shows up,yet again....

Back when I was working service management, whenever we were ready to cut a new tech loose in the field we gave him the same advice... When it becomes painfully obvious you have a user error, spend half an hour doing something that looks really impressive, inform the operator diplomatically how to avoid the problem in future making it sound like a machine error, then add $100 to their tab and get out of there. It wasn't long before I started receiving service slips with "BKC-100 ERROR" in the "solution" section...

Windows configurability (if there's such a word) is waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy below Linux... Get your feet wet in Linux world, then you will see what you've been missing all these time

What Skynet? The fictional AI/OS/Cloud service from Terminator series? If so, we are still have a looooooooooooooooooooong way before we have 1/100 of what Skynet can do (that is to be able to self sustain and destroy the world in the process)...

I hate having to resort to semantics, but the root definition of "perfect" doesn't mean without flaw, it means that it is completed as planned. However, we know about the plans of mice and men. One fear that I will never have is that a computer will ever become sentient...planned or otherwise. That some do think so, just illustrates how much that they under appreciate their own worth and uniqueness.
