the rating system

hello all!

i recently went and picked myself up a AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz 4 x 512KB. previously i was sporting a dual core 2.8GHz AMD which rated at like 6.4 on the windows rating for my system, i was expecting to see a pretty big leap in to the mid 7's when i re-rated my computer for the cpu but it dropped to a 3.7!!! any one know what is going on?

That is very odd CPU speed. Here is my AMD Phenom 550

I think AMD Cool'n'Quiet is on. Try disabling it in the BIOS if you can. Alternatively, set the power plan to "High Performance" in Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Power Options.

Depends on motherboard. What does CPU-Z say in the Mainboard tab?

also i did turn my power option to high performance and restarted my pc, no change

Try pressing Del during the boot splash screen. I think, for your board, disabling Cool'n'Quiet means going to Frequency/Voltage Control and disabling Cool'n'Quiet.

Edit: If that doesn't work, I think you have to update the BIOS. Try looking for an update here (only works in IE).

ok so went to bios and cool'n'quiet was already off.. any other things that might be hindering the performance?

Did you do any over-clocking ? or could this just be a faulty CPU from the factory ?

nope, have not done any overclocking, i put the processor today and this is the result of straight from the box, i guess it could just be a faulty processor.

Just noticed that your CPU multiplier is about 1/4 what my two AMD's are

That must be why the CPU speed is so low
