The RSOD? (red screen of death)

I get this red screen when trying to watch CBS and other online TV. The weird thing is that some of the content works fine (like NBC news and Netflix). This tells me that the content that does not work must use the Adobe add-on and the others do not. I know for a fact that Netflix uses their own transport system. I read about some people creating new user accounts to fix the problem. I already have another user account on my machine, so I logged onto that one and IT WORKS FINE! So it must be something related to the actual Windows user profile. I also tried the DNS fix (How to Fix Missing Netflix and Internet TV on WMC - Barb Bowman's Blog). No change. Just my 2 cents.

Netflix actually wraps their streams inside of microsoft silverlight.

I'd be inclined to agree with you. Also have you updated flash lately, there was a update very recently.

Yes, I have the latest and greatest Flash as well as the latest Silverlight. I've seen this issue raised by others, but there has been no good answers. It's more of an annoyance, really because I can get the content I want via Hulu. It's just that I'd expect it to work in Windows.

Well the usual connection based issues come to mind. Like overprotective firewall, browser plugin, etc....

Have you tried just using a different web browser.

I suppose creating a new user account and migrating your files would fix it too.
There simply isn't enough information on this problem (and I can't reproduce it here) To tell you what specific setting is causing the issue.
