The system restarts automatically

Hi,
I have an acer mini laptop with windows 7 starter. The computer automatically restarts just a few minutes after the windows is logged in giving an error on the blue screen that memory is dumped. It also says something lije "IF THIS IS FIRST TIME YOU ARE GETTING THIS ERROR.......". On restarting the computer the windows displays a message saying that the "Windows recovered from an unexpected error" and in the details the error name is "BLUE SCREEN". This restart process is continuous, please help me with this issue.

Have you called Acer for support?

Is this a newly purchased laptop, or did you buy it used? Please provided specifics on the model number. How long have you owned the laptop?

Have you recently installed Win7 on it? Did it previously have WinXP or Vista on it?

Did you have Win7 on this machine, and it was all working perfectly fine, until all of a sudden it started doing this? Did you change anything, or install anything, just before this happened?

The Laptop is brand new, almost 2 months old.
The model no is Acer aspire One d255 with windows 7 starter (original), 1gb ram. Intel Atom 1.55GHZ n550, I MB Cache
It has no windows installed on it previously. The new windows came installed from the company

It was working all fine until recently about an hour ago someone tried to log in to my system using incorrect password several times.

Unfortunate. Somebody you knew?

Certainly your current symptoms should not be occurring, just because of of several failed attempts at a login. It's very difficult to suggest a solution for a problem like this.

Have you tried booting into "safe mode" (boot the machine, and then press and hold F8 before Windows starts, and select "safe mode" from the menu presented), just to see if the problem is really basic or might be in a driver, somehow?


It's honestly hard to suggest what you should do next.

Since the system is less than 2 months old, surely you should be able to call Acer for tech support under warranty. They may walk you through a "system recover" if there's recovery disks or a recovery partition they provide on the hard drives as they deliver the machine.

Sorry... I don't know what else to suggest, other than of course a reinstall or "system image" restore (which would also come from the special menu of options using F8 at boot time), assuming you have a "system image" that you could restore from.

Maybe someone else will chime in here with a suggestion.

You should at least a years warranty on your machine.

Do you have a recovery dvd that came with your computer?

If so you might have to get it out.

Use System Restore to go back a couple days.

By all means try a system restore or system RECOVERY from the built in partition. If that fails, ACER or the place puchased should be willing to help you. NOTE: If you do a Recovery, it will delete all your data and software and reset the machine to like it was when you unboxed it.
