Solved The user profile service failed the logon

Can someone please help me......ive read through all the related comments to this problem but I am at a loss as to what to do. My son has a HP min netbook with Windows 7 starter on. It has been working perfectly since Christmas then tonight it has come up when trying to logon "The user profile service failed the logon" "user profile cannot be loaded"....I have read that you need to log on as an administrator and to put computer into "safe" mode but we cannot even log on.....there is no option to click on the "start" button as it doesnt come up until weve logged on. Not sure if to just take it back to the shop we got it from and ask for a new one. PLEASE can someone give me some "idiot" style instructions......many thanks in anticipation

It's a pretty involved process, but this tutorial over on vistax64 should do the trick. Be warned though that they are not "idiot" style instructions. Maybe someone else will have an easier way to fix this for you.

mmmmmmmmmmmm ive looked at this tutorial and not very clear to me. Would this still possibly work even though its not Vista ?

It should work. There are even spots in the tutorial that differentiate what to do on a specific step if you are using Windows 7.

Ok, I believe you need to do step two of the tutorial Brink sent you to boot into safe mode. Here's what it says:

If you cannot boot into Windows and do not have a Windows installation DVD, then you can create and use the boot disc below to boot into Safe Mode with instead.

Windows 7:
How to Create a Windows 7 System Repair Disc

Vista:
How to Create a Vista Recovery Disc

To create the aforementioned repair disk apply option two of the following tutorial to get into safe mode
